The flurry of additions to UFC on FOX 26 continued into Friday afternoon, as a welterweight tilt between exciting veterans Erick Silva and Jordan Mein was officially announced for the Dec. 16 card in Winnipeg, Canada.
Both Silva (19-8, 1 NC) and Mein (29-12) have recently hit rough patches in their careers, losing a combined six of their last seven contests.
Silva, 33, has dropped three of his past four fights, sandwiching a third-round submission win over Luan Chagas between setbacks against Neil Magny, Nordine Taleb, and Yancy Medeiros, the latter two of which ended via KO/TKO.
Mein, 28, likewise has lost a trio of consecutive fights at the hands of Thiago Alves, Emil Meek, and Belal Muhammad. Mein briefly retired following the Alves loss, but ultimately returned in Dec. 2016 to face Meek after a 23-month layoff.
UFC on FOX 26 takes place at the MTS Centre in Winnipeg, Canada.
The event is headlined by a welterweight tilt between top contenders Robbie Lawler and Rafael dos Anjos.
