A welterweight fight featuring two rising stars is close to being added to UFC 219.
Kamaru Usman vs. Emil Meek is slated for the Dec. 30 card, MMA Fighting has confirmed. The fight was first reported by Farah Hannoun.
Usman (11-1) is a perfect 6-0 in the UFC. He knocked out Sergio Moraes last month and then called out Rafael dos Anjos, however, RDA was recently booked against Robbie Lawler.
Meek (9-2, 1 NC) will be looking to improve to 2-0 in the UFC. After winning his debut last December against Jordan Mein at UFC 206, “Valhalla” was scheduled to return to action in May but pulled out of his fight due to injury.
UFC 219 is set for T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The promotion has yet to announce a main event for the card.
