Former heavyweight titlist Charles Martin suffered a gunshot to his forearm after getting into a dispute in downtown Los Angeles.
Charles Martin, a former IBF world titlist, was allegedly involved in a dispute with two men in downtown Los Angeles at around 5am when gunfire erupted. Martin, 30, says he doesn’t know why the men attacked him and that he was attempting to drive away from the incident when he was shot in his forearm.
Martin says he “looked down, and saw a pool of blood. I said to myself, ‘I gotta get outta here. I’m gonna die. I’m gonna bleed to death.'” Martin, thankfully, did not bleed to death though, and made it to the hospital where he underwent surgery for the wound as police continue their search for his assailants.
Martin briefly held a heavyweight title earlier this year when he beat Vyacheslav Glazkov to claim the vacant IBF belt. His reign would be short though, as Anthony Joshua would make quick work out of him just three months later to claim the IBF strap.
