Surging Carlos Morales wins 14th straight

Junior featherweight Carlos “The Solution” Morales (14-1-3, 6 KOs) won a ten round unanimous decision over Cuban Luis “La Estrella” Franco (14-1-1, 9 KOs) on Friday night at the Belasco Theater in downtown Los Angeles. Scores were 98-92, 97-93, 96-94. “The Solution,” who got off to a shaky start in his career with a loss and three draws in his first four fights, won his 14th straight bout and claimed the vacant NABA title.

Unbeaten featherweight Joet Gonzalez (14-0, 6 KOs) scored a hard fought ten round unanimous decision over journeyman Sergio Lopez (19-12-1, 12 KOs). The fight was a slugfest with both fighters connecting hard and often. Scores of 100-90, 99-91, 98-92 didn’t reflect the competitiveness of the fight.

Debuting jr middleweight Angel Bojado defeated Euris Silverio (0-4) by four round unanimous decision. Bojado is the brother of former jr welterweight contender Francisco “Panchito” Bojado.
