All week long, Joanna Jedrzejczyk tried to get in Rose Namajunas’ head.

All week long, Rose shrugged off the histrionics leading up to their UFC strawweight title fight.

Turns out Namajunas was waiting until fight night to make her noise.

The Colorado-based fighter stunned the mixed martial arts world with a first-round knockout of the previously undefeated Jedrzejczyk on Saturday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

A gigantic left hand to the jaw dropped Jedrzejczyk and a right hand to the downed fighter ended it. Namajunas won via stoppage at 3:03 to claim the belt at UFC 217.

“This feels like a movie right now,” said Namajunas (7-3).

Namajunas foreshadowed the finish early on by dropping Jedrzejczyk with a right hand, but the champ scrambled to safety. She wasn’t as lucky the second time around, as Namajunas pounced before the cobwebs could clear, and finished the fight.

Namajunas fought for the inaugural strawweight belt in December 2014 in just her fourth official pro fight and lost to Carla Esparza. She’s 5-1 since and now has five career submission victories.

“There’s so much crap going on in the media and on the news and stuff and I just want to use my gifts to try to make this world a better place,” Namajunas said. “This belt don’t mean nothing man. just be a good person. This is extra.”

Jedrzejczyk dropped to 14-1. Her reign ended with five successful title defenses, leaving her one shy of Ronda Rousey’s women’s UFC record.
