With word out from Manny Pacquiao that he and his team have made initial contact to Conor McGregor’s team for a possible 2018 fight, UFC boss Dana White is taken aback, and, well, not exactly happy.
White said he will sue the Pacquiao team if, in fact, they made direct contact with McGregor instead of going through the UFC:
“That would be weird, because he’s under contract with us. If that’s true, I will be suing Manny Pacquiao and whoever’s representing him. So, I’m assuming that’s not true.”
White made these statements after Saturday night’s UFC Fight Night event in California, so not long after Pacquaio’s words came out about the McGregor idea. White and UFC are still working on getting McGregor back in the Octagon, where he hasn’t fought since November 2016, spending all of 2017 on the mega-money fight with Floyd Mayweather, which McGregor predictably lost in August.
