GAB EARNS P25M IN 2017; INCREASES INCOME BY 44.21%

THE Games and Amusements Board (GAB) under the leadership of Chairman Abraham Kahlil “Baham” Mitra had increased its income and revenues for this year by 44.21% with total earnings of P25,115,727.81.
This was bared by Mitra during their annual Christmas party held at the GAB Main Office in Makati City.
“We’re happy to announce that we (GAB) had increase our income to 44.21% or an equivalent of P7,699,974.52,” said Mitra, who was appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte only last year.
GAB, a regulatory body of professional sports in the Philippines under the Office of the President, had a total income of only P17,415,753 in 2016 with P7,660,973.93 coming from the 3% share of gross receipts.
This year, GAB got its highest earnings from the “Sports Supervision and Regulation” which includes licensing, permitting, fines and penalties, miscellaneous and other fees.
“We earned P12,229,619.36 this year in sports supervision and regulation compared to last year’s P7,490,972.81,” said Mitra.
This year, GAB also earned P7,299,692.49 from the 3% share of gross receipts, P5,577,100.00 from TV coverage and P9,315.96 from general administration.
“It has been another good year for us. Let’s just continue on working hard together,” said Mitra, who also commended his two hard-working members of the Board – Commissioners Eduard Trinidad and Mar Masanguid.
GAB was also given this year an award by the World Boxing Council (WBC) as the Best Boxing Commission for its good governance in professional boxing and for giving free CT Scan, medical and laboratory test for professional boxers in the country.
“GAB is also now helping raise funds to assist the government’s fundraising activities to fund the “war on drugs” program of President Duterte,” said Mitra.
“From a small unknown national government fund dependent agency, GAB has turned into to a robust active transparent energetic and fund generation agency. Truly change has come into GAB,” said Mitra.
GAB also now has its own website and page in the social media in order to be able to reach out more easily to its clients.
Mitra also encouraged the GAB employees to form their own union for their own good.
“You can avail more previledges and benefits if you have a union,” said Mitra, a former elected governor and congressman in Palawan.
Meanwhile, loyalty awards were given to its 25 employees led by its Boxing Division Chief Dioscoro Bautista, who has been with the GAB for 35 years already.

(30 yrs.) Alekhine Cabrera, Manuelita Roman, Marissa So, Lilibeth Pingol, Virginia Macasero, Herminia Soron;
