Top prospect Aaron Pico will look to capitalize on his first win when he returns at Bellator 192.
On Thursday, officials confirmed that the 21-year-old featherweight’s third professional bout has been booked against nine-year veteran Shane Kruchten. The matchup was first reported by Eric Kowal of MyMMANews.com.
Hailed by many as a future star, Pico improved to 1-1 this past September with a stunning first-round knockout of Justin Linn. That victory was a turnaround from the upset loss the standout amateur wrestler suffered in his MMA debut at Bellator 180 in June. The heavily favored Pico’s first fight ended in him being submitted in just 24 seconds by Zach Freeman.
Kruchten (12-3) most recently fought for the World Series of Fighting promotion, defeatingJeremy Mahon by unanimous decision last December. The 33-year-old has lost just one of his past 13 fights.
Bellator 192 takes place at The Forum in Inglewood, Calif. on Jan. 20. In the main event, welterweight champion Douglas Lima defends his title against Rory MacDonald.
