Two longtime heavyweights will collide in March.
Stefan Struve and Andrei Arlovski, both of whom could certainly use a victory, are set to meet at UFC 222, the promotion’s third pay-per-view event of 2018. UFC officials announced the news Thursday.
Struve (28-9) is coming off a September main event loss to Alexander Volkov in Rotterdam. He was stopped in the third round with strikes. That defeat snapped a two-fight winning streak, which consisted of stoppages of Daniel Omielanczuk and former title challenger Antonio Silva.
Arlovski (26-15, 1 NC) recently ended a five-fight skid with a decision win over Junior Albini at UFC Fight Night 120 last month. Prior to that, he suffered losses to Marcin Tybura, Francis Ngannou, and Josh Barnett, as well as longtime contender Alistair Overeem and current champ Stipe Miocic. The Miocic loss in January 2016 snapped a six-fight winning streak that had “The Pitbull,” a former UFC heavyweight titleholder, back in contention.
UFC 222 takes place at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on March 3. No main event has been announced for the card.
