Top strawweight contenders Karolina Kowalkiewicz and Felice Herrig will throw down at UFC 223 on April 7 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn.
Officials confirmed the strawweight bout to MMA Fighting on Monday, following an initial report from MMANytt.
Herrig also announced the rumored bout on her Instagram:
A nine-year MMA veteran, Herrig is on a hot streak having won four straight bouts and five of her last six. She’s taken her last three fights on the scorecards, with her most recent outing atUFC 218 ending in a split decision victory over Cortney Casey. Her professional record stands at 14-6.
Kowalkiewicz rebounded from the first losing skid of her career in October, defeating Jodie Esquibel by unanimous decision at UFC Gdansk to improve to 11-2. Her lone losses have come against Claudia Gadelha and Joanna Jedrzejczyk, the latter occurring in a strawweight championship bout at UFC 205 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
UFC 223 will be headlined by a title bout between interim lightweight champion Tony Fergusonand Khabib Nurmagomedov. Strawweight champion Rose Namajunas will also be in action as she looks to defend her title against Jedrzejczyk in a rematch from UFC 217.
