Moroccan Bilel Jkitou, 25, notched an important victory, defeating Nigerian Rasheed Abolaji by TKO in the 6th round, to conquer the ABU middleweight title endorsed by the World Boxing Council.
The match was at El Aaiun, Morocco, with Jkitou showcasing his skills, while Abolaji tried to impose his greater experience to counter attack. But at the end of the sixth round, the Nigerian and his corner confirmed that they could not continue.
“Together with my team, we established a strategy, to go to his body as much as possible and it worked! To win a regional belt endorsed by the WBC is a great step on the way to fulfilling my ambition to be a world champion,” said Jkitou, who’s expected to make the first defense of his ABU crown in March in France.
