An Australian fan favorite won a hard-fought battle in front of his homeland fans in Perth at UFC 221, and will take home an extra $50,000 for his efforts.

Welterweight Jake Matthews won a hard-hitting bout with Beijing’s Li Jingliang, taking a unanimous decision. The duo took home bonuses for Fight of the Night.

It was both fighters’ second career UFC post-fight bonuses.

Meanwhile, a pair of Performance of the Night awards also went out.

Longtime flyweight contender Jussier Fomiga earned a third-round finish of Ben Nguyen, as he rocked Nguyen with a spinning backfist before ending the fight with a rear-naked choke. That earned him $50K and the first bonus of his 11-fight UFC career.

And hotshot Israel Adesanya earned a bonus in his UFC debut, as the flashy kickboxer from New Zealand finished Rob Wilkinson via a second-round TKO.

Announced attendance was 12,437 for a gate of $3.6 million AUD (approx $2.8M USD).
