With Bobby Green injured, lightweight Alexander Hernandez slotted in on short notice to take on #12 ranked Beneil Dariush at UFC 222. Hernandez was understandably a hefty underdog, but the Octagon newcomer announced his UFC arrival in a huge way, knocking Dariush out cold in less than a minute.

Here’s Tim Burke’s play-by-play of the entire fight, which started out with Hernandez faking the glove tap and then kicking Dariush in the body:
Round 1 – Hernandez went in for the tap and kicked him in the belly. Yikes, that’s not cool. Dariush lands a left. Leg kick from Dariush. Hernandez lands a perfect left and DARIUSH IS OUT! WOW!

Hernandez may very well find himself in the UFC rankings next week. As for Dariush, it’s another brutal KO loss for him, and this one was an outcome few could’ve seen coming.
