Dillon Danis’ long-awaited MMA debut is set, and the jiu-jitsu expert is off to one of the world’s best camps to prepare for it.
Danis, 24, will make his debut at Bellator 198 on April 28 at Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Ill., MMA Fighting has learned. Danis’ opponent hasn’t been finalized just yet, but he is expected to fight on the Paramount Network main card.
In addition, Danis will train for the fight at SBG Ireland, head coach John Kavanagh confirmed with MMA Fighting. Danis is scheduled to fly to Dublin early next week to begin the camp.
Danis, considered one of the world’s best jiu-jitsu practitioners, signed with Bellator last March. While he’s been a fixture on the BJJ scene for years, he rose to prominence in the MMA community when Conor McGregor brought him in as a training partner for his rematch against Nate Diaz at UFC 202. Since then, McGregor and Danis forged a friendship and Danis became an unofficial member of SBG Ireland.
He’ll now head from his home in New York City to Dublin to prepare for his mixed martial arts debut.
