Will the third time be the charm for Adam Borics?
Originally scheduled for the main event of Bellator 196 in his home country of Hungary, Borics was demoted to the co-headliner when opponent James Gallagher was forced to bow out with an injury. Gallagher’s replacement Manuel Gaxhja would later also withdraw due to injury.
Fortunately for Borics, he will remain in the co-main event spot with opponent No. 3 stepping up to the plate with just over one week’s notice, Russian featherweight Teodor Nikolov. The matchup was recently added to the official event page.
Borics is a 24-year-old with a 6-0 professional record. In his Bellator debut last April, he defeated Anthony Taylor by first-round rear-naked choke.
Nikolov (11-1) has competed primarily at 135 pounds, but he will fight Borics at featherweight. He has won six straight bouts all by knockout or submission with only one of those bouts going past the first round.
Bellator 196 takes place on April 6 at BOK Hall in Budapest, Hungary. In the main event, former UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson fights veteran Roger Huerta.
