wbcBy WBCnews

Marcos Villasana Jr outboxed and outfoxed previously undefeated Filipino, Rosekie Cristobal, winning by disqualification in the tenth at the Convention Center Acapulco, successfully defending  his Lightweight Latino World Boxing Council belt for the first time.

After four rounds, Marcos was comfortably ahead on the announced scores: 39-37, 40-37 and 40-36. In the fifth, a long hard right dropped the Filipino southpaw to the canvass.  Marcos continued to dominate the fight as his opponent became ever more frustrated and desperate, swinging in punches wildly. In the seventh Marcos needed time to recover from a low blow. Rosekie, bowed and apologized.  Yet in  the eighth round, Referee Cristian Curiel, docked  a point from the Filipino for another punch well below the belt.

Nevertheless, after  eight rounds, Marcos had pulled well ahead  on the cards:  79-71, 80-71 and 80-70. In the ninth, the Referee deducted  another point fom Rosekie for a headbutt.
Enough was enough in the tenth, after  yet another outrageously low blow doubled up Marcos in pain.  The disqualification of Rosekie came at one minute and fifty seconds.
