Khabib Nurmagomedov on next move: ‘Madison Square Garden, 155 belt, Georges St-Pierre’

Just less than a week before his title fight at UFC 223, Khabib Nurmagomedov got a sudden change in opponent. Because of a freak accident that tore a ligament in his knee, Tony Ferguson was forced out of the said bout and was subsequently replaced by featherweight champion Max Holloway.

But despite the abrupt switch, Khabib still feels he will emerge as champion. He even laid out his next plans once the title is already in his possession.

”Madison Square Garden, 155 [pound] belt, Georges St-Pierre,” Khabib said during an interview on WFAN’s Outside the Cage podcast (transcript via FloCombat).

As Khabib has his sights set on St-Pierre, another name that is constantly thrown at him isConor McGregor. “The Eagle” apparently also thought of where “The Notorious” would be placed in this entire scenario.

”About Conor? I don’t remember when he fight last time,” Nurmagomedov said. “He have to fight with – maybe they [Conor and Tony Ferguson] fight each other, like some prelims where I fight main card.”

”Me and Georges St-Pierre main event; they can fight prelims.”

UFC 223 is scheduled to take place this Saturday, April 7th, at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
