Zabit Magomedsharipov vs. Kyle Bochniak promoted to main card after UFC 223 fight cancellations

Zabit Magomedsharipov and Kyle Bochniak are getting an unexpected boost in exposure.

The two featherweights were set to meet on the Fight Pass preliminary portion of UFC 223 at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Saturday, but they will now compete on the main card after a trio of bouts were canceled in the wake of Conor McGregor’s antics.

McGregor created a chaotic scene at a UFC media event on Thursday at the same venue where he attempted to confront Khabib Nurmagomedov. “The Notorious” threw a dolly at a bus transporting Nurmagomedov and several other fighters, which resulted in cuts to UFC 223 competitors Michael Chiesa and Ray Borg.

Later in the evening, it was announced that Chiesa and Borg would be forced to withdraw from their respective bouts on Saturday. McGregor’s friend and teammate Artem Lobov was also removed from the UFC 223 card due to his involvement in the incident.

A women’s flyweight bout between Ashlee Evans-Smith and Bec Rawlings has been promoted from the Fight Pass prelims to the Fox Sports 1 prelims.
