Dana White has ‘mutual respect’ with Conor McGregor, changes tune on bus attack

“This is the most disgusting thing that has ever happened in the history of the company”

“What happened today was criminal, disgusting, despicable, makes me sick.”

Those were Dana White’s original remarks about Conor McGregor attacking the bus that was holding several UFC fighters and employees. He even went as far as saying that he “absolutely” doesn’t want to be in business with McGregor right now, because “everybody is gonna be pretty disgusted” with the Irishman.

Well, a few days later and things seem to have completely changed, as the UFC President has suddenly reversed his tune.

“We talked, it’s good,” White said at the UFC 223 post-fight press conference (HT: MMA Mania). “I think that there’s a mutual respect between us and obviously this week, I had so many things thrown at me. To focus on this show was insane. We’ll get back and we’ll focus on Conor McGregor.”

White went on to downplay the incident, saying he would take that bus attack over what happens in other sports.

“At the end of the day, there’s a lot worse that goes on in all the other sports, so I’ll take a dolly through a window any day.”

Three fights were cancelled by McGregor’s assault on the bus, and it left a few fighters and officials injured and hospitalized. For those who lost their shot at competing on a big event, they’ll get the “show” portion of their purse but not their “win” money, because White claims “we don’t have that much money.”

Also during that UFC 223 press conference, White boasted about breaking the arena’s record with a $3 million gate.
