Top light heavyweight contender Alexander Gustafsson will be sticking around the UFC for a while longer. The two-time title challenger recently announced via social media that he has re-upped with the promotion, and is very happy with his new deal.
”While others are talking about retirement, I just signed my new deal with the @ufc today. I am grateful, excited, and I will be fighting very soon! I need to thank my family, my team @wesportagency and @allstarsgymsweden . I would also like to give a special thank you to my fight management @neems01 and @majdishammas at Moments Sports Management for securing the biggest deal of my career. Soon to be the world champion!!!”
MMA Fighting also spoke to Gustafsson’s manager Nima Safapour, who described the contract as “the most lucrative of his career” and “one of the best deals in the space”.
Gustafsson (18-4. 10-4 UFC) is currently on a two-fight winning streak with the last victory coming over Glover Teixeira last May. He had been looking for another title shot against Daniel Cormier, but DC decided to fight for the heavyweight title instead so that shelves the 205 belt for a bit. Gus has been tied to a possible bout with Luke Rockhold as of late.
