Former junior middleweight titleholder Ishe Smith will face Tony Harrison in a May 11 Premier Boxing Champions on Bounce TV main event in Las Vegas, a must-win fight for both men if they want to get back into the title mix.
Smith (29-9, 12 KO) turns 40 in July and lost his last fight, but it was a tough decision against Julian Williams, a legitimate contender, and he didn’t look any worse in the ring than ever. That said, the veteran is 4-4 in his last eight fights and in the final stretch of his career. He wants to win as much as ever, and be a factor at 154 pounds, but time is running out, and another loss could be all but the end of the road.
Harrison (26-2, 21 KO) is a formerly heralded prospect out of Detroit, a Kronk fighter who has power and talent but has come up short in losses to Willie Nelson and Jarrett Hurd, both stoppages. He’s won his last two, both against mediocre opposition, since the TKO-9 loss to Hurd in February 2017, where Hurd won the vacant IBF title.
The show’s co-feature will be a cruiserweight battle between prospect Andrew Tabiti (15-0, 12 KO) and veteran Lateef Kayode (21-2, 16 KO).
