Hopefully Conor McGregor doesn’t show up at UFC 226. Because that’s where Michael Chiesa will finally get to fight Anthony Pettis, following their aborted UFC 223 bout due to McGregor’s bus attack. The news was confirmed by MMA Fighting’s Ariel Helwani:

Anthony Pettis vs. Michael Chiesa is now slated to be rebooked for UFC 226 on July 7, multiple sources confirm.

Chiesa suffered facial cuts as a result of the dolly thrown through the bus window a day before the Brooklyn event earlier this month, which forced him to withdraw from the fight. Pettis, a former WEC and UFC lightweight champ, was briefly tied to a fight with now-champion Khabib Nurmagomedov after the incident, and had to cut weight more than once in preparation for that, but was eventually pulled from the card as well.

Chiesa (17-3, 10-3 UFC) is coming off a disputed submission loss to Kevin Lee late last June, while Pettis (20-7, 7-6 UFC) last competed in November where he dropped a decision to Dustin Poirier. He is just 2-5 in his last seven overall.

UFC 226 goes down on July 7th in Vegas, and will be headlined by a heavyweight super-fight between Stipe Miocic and Daniel CormierMax Holloway is also expected to defend his featherweight title against Brian Ortega on the card.
