Jean Pascal isn’t done yet. Unfortunately.
The former light heavyweight champ initially called it quits last year after an upset thrashing of Ahmed Elbiali, but has reversed course and will be fighting UFC veteran Steve Bosse on June 29th.
It’s official Pascal vs Bossé is on! June 29th it’s Time to put his boxing career on ice and send him back To MMA.
Some background on Bosse (1-0, 1 KO in boxing/12-2, 9 KO in MMA), since this is actually my turf for once. A former hockey enforcer, he went 2-1 in the UFC, losing via horrific head kick to Thiago Santos in his debut before starching James Te Huna and winning an insane brawl with Sean O’Connell. He wound up retiring from MMA last year after injury scrapped a planned bout with Jared Cannonier, then made his boxing debut in February.
He’s got a good punch, but his striking technique was middle-of-the-road even by MMA standards. Literally the only thing he has going for him here is size; he weighed in at 224.5 pounds for that aforementioned boxing debut, and though he did manage to cut to 185.5 in the UFC, he went right back to 205 afterwards.
Not that it’s going to save him from Pascal (32-5-1, 19 KO), who is going to do bad things to his brain meats.
