Valentina Shevchenko will soon be heard on a UFC broadcast.
The women’s UFC flyweight contender will be joining the FOX Deportes commentating team to call the action of UFC Chile in Spanish. The news was first reported by MMA Junkie, and was later announced by the promotion.
The FOX Deportes broadcast is for the U.S. based, Spanish-speaking audience. Shevchenko will be commentating along side Troy Santiago and fellow UFC fighter Fabricio Werdum. The FOX Sports broadcast for Latin America will be conducted by Emiliano Candido and Walter Queijeiro.
“Bullet” was born in Kyrgyzstan, but knows Spanish from her years of living and training in Peru. The 30-year-old fighter is currently the No. 1 contender in the UFC’s official rankings for women’s flyweight. She’s expected to be the next challenger for champion Nicco Montano.
UFC Chile takes place on Saturday night at the Movistar Arena in Santiago, Chile. Welterweights Demian Maia and Kamaru Usman are set to headline the event. UFC Chile marks the first time the company hosts an event in South America outside of Brazil, and the first time they go to a Spanish-speaking country outside of Mexico.
