Holly Holm on UFC 225 featherweight bout: 135 pounds is a ‘little more my home’

Former UFC women’s bantamweight champion has so far been successful during her stint at 135 pounds. Save for her loss to Miesha Tate in 2016, Holm has gone 4-1 as a bantamweight, which includes a career-changing highlight reel victory over Ronda Rousey in 2015.

“The Preacher’s Daughter” is currently slated to welcome Megan Anderson into the UFC this weekend at UFC 225. And while she is open to a rematch against Cris Cyborg sometime in the future, Holm’s next plans seems to be leaning towards a return to bantamweight and reclaiming the title.

“I definitely feel like 135 is a little more my home,” Holm said during a pre-fight media lunch in Los Angeles on Friday (via MMA Fighting). “This (Anderson matchup) was the opportunity that presented itself and what seemed good for right now. I’m just gonna take this fight and after that, I would like to be able to go back to 135 and maybe fight for the belt.”

“I know I’m the No. 1 contender there. Why not try and go back to that? How awesome would that be to be able to get my belt back? That’s what I want.”

Holm is currently 1-4 in her last five fights, as she enters the Anderson fight coming from a loss to Cyborg at UFC 219 last December. Rightfully, she is feeling the sense of urgency to get herself back on the winning track.

“I want to win this fight. With a win or a loss, it definitely makes a difference on what my future will hold and what my opportunities will be,” Holm said. “We’ll see what happens.”

UFC 225 takes place on Saturday, June 9th, in Chicago, Illinois.
