One of MMA’s most hyped prospects will return next month.
Sage Northcutt will take on Zak Ottow at UFC Boise on July 14 in Idaho, the UFC officially announced Monday. The news was reported last month by FanSided. The bout will be contested at welterweight.
Northcutt (10-2) has won two straight and is coming off a unanimous decision win over Thibault Gouti at UFC Austin back in February. The Team Alpha Male fighter is moving up from lightweight again; he’s 0-2 at welterweight so far in the UFC — his only two losses in the promotion. Northcutt, 22, has been a heavily promoted prospect “discovered” on Dana White’s Lookin’ for a Fight show in 2015.
Ottow (16-5) is coming off a first-round TKO win over Mike Pyle at UFC 222 in March. The Milwaukee native has won three of five fights since coming to the UFC in 2016. Ottow, 31, is a Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt as well as an accomplished striker.
UFC Boise is headlined by a heavyweight bout between Junior dos Santos and Blagoy Ivanov. Also on the card, James Vick takes on Paul Felder in a significant lightweight fight and Cat Zinganofaces Marion Reneau in the women’s bantamweight division.
