The folks here at BLH and elsewhere have already written quite a bit about the shenanigans that have ensued since Fury (25-0, 18 KO) and Klitschko (64-4, 53 KO) first decided to lock horns again, so let’s just talk about the other big fight.

At the age of twenty-one, Hughie Fury (20-0, 10 KO) hasn’t demonstrated his cousin’s punching power, but has done well for himself in his young career. He took his first real step up in March, when he beat Fred Kassi by split decision in London.

Ruiz (28-0, 19 KO), whose fluffy frame belies terrific handspeed and solid boxing skills, has been in a career holding pattern for about as long as I can remember. He stopped Josh Gormley last time out and is set to fight Franklin Lawrence in eight days, meaning he’ll be fighting Fury with less than two months of downtime.

Not to mention the four-inch height disadvantage.

It’s a very, very good fight between young heavyweights in need of a signature win. Definitely a good supporting cast for the big rematch.
