The UFC has finally made several previously reported bouts official for its return to Sao Paulo, Brazil, on Sept. 22, and announced three new match-ups for the Fight Night event.
Scheduled for Sao Paulo’s Ibirapuera gymnasium, UFC Sao Paulo will feature Ketlen Vieira vs. Tonya Evinger, Ben Saunders vs. Sergio Moraes, and Thales Leites vs. Hector Lombard.
Vieira (10-0) was hoping for a shot at the bantamweight belt after winning four in a row inside the Octagon, capped off by a decision over Cat Zingano in March. Instead, she faces former Invicta FC champion Evinger, (19-6, 1 no-contest) who hasn’t fought since a loss to featherweight queen Cris Cyborg last July.
Saunders (22-9-2) is coming off a first-round knockout over Jake Ellenberger in June, bouncing back from a two-fight skid. Moraes (13-3-1), who only lost one of his last nine fights in the UFC, scored a close decision win over Tim Means in February.
Leites (27-9) and Lombard (34-9-1, 2 no-contest) meet in a potential loser-leaves-town match-up in Brazil. The Brazilian veteran is 2-5 over his last seven fights in the Octagon, while Lombard looks to stop a six-fight winless skid.
The UFC has yet to announce a main event for the Fight Night card.
