In an effort to strengthen ties and unify criteria towards the future, the Games and Amusement Board (GAB) Chairman Abraham Kahlil B. Mitra, together with the GAB family held a positive, productive meeting with the Filipino Muay Thai and Kick Boxing community at the GAB Head Office in Makati, Metro Mania.
The meaningful talks were conducted during the latest GAB’s quarterly meeting aiming at sharing views and improving the existing conditions on the fast growing combat sport sport in the country.
Among other issues, the group reviewed the license fees charged to fighters and adopted a standard minimum purse of 5,000 pesos per fighter per bout. In addition, it was also agreed to categorize fighters with eight wins in fifteen amateur fights as professionals fighters.
Together with the Chairman Baham Mitra were GAB Commissioner for Operations Eduard B. Trinidad, GAB Boxing Division Chief Dioscoro “Jun” Bautista, GAB Chief Assistant Jackie L. Cacho; as well as GAB members Eduardo Coronel, Oliver Evangelista, Rafael M. Diokno, Janela Deauna, GAB legal Assistant Attorney Genelyn Abao and GAB physician Dr. Radentor Viernes.
Also in attendance were Filipino Muay Thai boxers, MMA and Kick Boxing club heads and representatives, including Jaime Ignes – Philippines Muaythai Federation (PMF), Gerald Bassig World Muay Thai Federation/ Philippine Kamao, Archie Brioso – Team Kalasag (WMF Phil Bulacan), Emmanuel Sabrine – National Muaythai Kick Boxing Council of the Philippines (NMKBCP), Sherwin Villarica – Phil. Kamao, Ron Catunao-URCC/Yawyan, Pearl Managuelod- MAP (Muaythai Association of the Philippines), Francis Amandy- Elorde Boxing Gym/MAP, Richard Auty -ONE C and Rex De Lara MUMMA.
The first professional Muay Thai fight in the Philippines will excite fight fans in Mid-October in a promotion of Pearl Managuelod of the Muaythai Association of the Philippines.
