The Suga Show is back.
Undefeated bantamweight prospect Sean O’Malley will make his return on Oct. 6 against The Ultimate Fighter: Latin America alum Jose Quinonez at UFC 229.
MMA Fighting confirmed the booking Monday following O’Malley’s announcement on ESPN’s Ariel Helwani’s MMA Show.
O’Malley (10-0) has been sidelined since undergoing surgery in March for a foot injury suffered midway through his UFC 222 win over Andre Soukhamthath. After turning heads with a highlight-reel knockout of David Nuzzo on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series, O’Malley cemented himself as a up-and-coming talent to watch at 135 pounds with a trio of impressive victories over Alfred Khashakyan, Terrion Ware, and Soukhamthath.
Quinonez (7-2) has quietly put together an impressive four-fight win streak in the UFC that stretches back to 2015. After dropping a decision to Alejandro Perez in the finals of TUF: Latin America, Quinonez has picked up consecutive victories over Leonardo Morales, Joey Gomez, Diego Rivas, and Teruto Ishihara.
UFC 229 takes place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The event is headlined by a blockbuster title fight between UFC lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov and former two-division beltholder Conor McGregor.
