With keen focus on the tremendous potential China brings to the growth and flourishing success of Boxing, the WBC has officially opened an office in Shanghai, China.

Weary from travel encumbered by bad weather and canceled flights, the WBC and members of the  California boxing community arrived in beautiful Shanghai ready to join with Champion, Zou and Yingying Ran Shiming to bring positive change and the glory of boxing to China.

The new WBC office, which will be located at the superb Zou gym, Sports 1 Complex, will be led  by Yingying with the guidance of WBC President, Mauricio Sulaiman, and Ratings and Technical Chair, Robert Yalen.

Starting with a Dedication Ceremony, attended by the Press, many Olympic stars, coaches, celebrities, and members of the government, the emphases was, as Mr. Yalen stated, on the spirit of unity and pride. “To make boxing great in China, we must work together, and the WBC is here to help as well as learn from the wisdom of your culture.”

At the press conference, the spirit was also on the impact of boxing and sports on children. Beautiful videos were shown of WBC Cares and Champion Shimming working with children around the world for  betterment plus benefit. WBC Cares Chair, Jill Diamond said, “When it comes to youth, the WBC is not interested in making World Champions, but inspiring children to make world champion choices in their young lives.”

The Sports 1 Gym, situated  by the waterfront, with panoramic views and restaurants,  has enticed and attracted  champion trainers from many combat disciplines, including former WBC Champion Alicia Ashley, International star, Frank Trigg and entrepreneur Willard Ford. It will formulate and establish a specific program for training and preparing athletes, coaches and amateurs in the surrounding communities.

Today, it will focus on the two WBC fights which will take place on Tuesday. And after that, a Boxing Summit,  with referee, medical and judges seminars. Yingying Ran, who was the touch stone of her husband’s career,  is passionate about doing everything with perfection, and an with eye on safety and health of all involved.

This is one of the most exciting journeys the WBC has authorized, true unification;  bringing together a multi cultural group dedicated to the beauty and benefits of boxing.
