It’s bounced around a few times, but the IBF middleweight title fight between Daniel Jacobs and Sergiy Derevyanchenko is officially set to take place on October 27th at the Hulu Theater in Madison Square Garden.
CONFIRMED: @DanielJacobsTKO fights Sergiy Derevyanchenko for the vacant IBF World Middleweight Title, Sat Oct 27 @HuluTheaterMSG live on @HBOboxing #JacobsDerevyanchenko
Jacobs (34-2, 29 KO) vs. Derevyanchenko (12-0, 10 KO) is, as we’ve said before, an A+ matchup between two top-five middleweights. Both have legit skills, both have legit stopping power, and either one would be both a legitimate world champion and an intriguing challenge for the winner of GGG-Canelo II.
The undercard will reportedly feature both Alberto Machado’s (20-0, 16 KO) previously announced WBA super featherweight title defense against Yuandale Evans (20-1, 14 KO) and a vacant WBO featherweight title fight between Heather Hardy (21-0, 4 KO) and Shelly Vincent (23-1, 1 KO). Hardy won their first meeting by majority decision in 2016.
All in all, a solid title tripleheader for HBO, and not one Showtime supercard to compete with on that date. Yet.
