Neil Magny will travel a little further down South America for his next outing.
Once expected to take on slugger Alex Oliveira at UFC Fight Night 137, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the 31-year-old welterweight could now headline the upcoming Argentina card against Santiago Ponzinibbio, per Combate.
Expected for November 17, UFC Fight Night 140 in Buenos Aires sees Ponzinibbio (26-3) coming into the fight on an impressive six-fight winning streak, with three KO wins. During that run, he defeated notable names such as Mike Perry and Gunnar Nelson. Although the Argentinian was expected to meet fellow up-and-comer Kamaru Usman back in May, the fight was cancelled when Ponzinibbio was forced to pull out because of an injury.
Neil Magny (21-6) will look to make it three in a row in his next outing. In his last two bouts, he scored a KO win over Craig White and defeated former interim champion Carlos Condit via unanimous decision. Magny hasn’t lost a fight since September 2017, when former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos finished him with an arm-triangle choke.
So far, the UFC hasn’t announced a replacement opponent for Alex Oliveira for the September 22 event in Brazil.
