If Mickey Gall was looking for a fight on Saturday night, he didn’t get much of one.
The New Jersey native, who made his way into the UFC off the “Dana White’s Lookin’ for a Fight” series, wasted little time earning the victory on the FS2 prelim portion of UFC Lincoln. Gall needed just 1:09 to finish George Sullivan in a welterweight matchup at Pinnacle Bank Arena.
Gall closed the distance by flicking punches, shot for a single and got Sullivan to the mat. While Sullivan put up resistance with Gall on his back, it was simply a matter of time until Gall softened him up, found an opening, and secured the winning choke.
“I didn’t think” Gall said of the transition into the finish. “I was on autopilot.”
Gall, who has moved his training camp from New Jersey to Los Angeles, said he next wants to fight at Madison Square Garden at UFC 230, and he has couple fights in mind, including Sage Northcutt, who he already defeated back in 2016.
“I want my next fight. I want to go back to the Garden, I want to either run it back, Sage Corncutt or Diego Sanchez,” said Gall, who has all five career wins via submission.
Gall (5-1) improved to 4-1 in the UFC with the win, while Sullivan (17-6, 1 NC) lost his third straight bout.
