Lil Oscar- The Monarch Of Kingsville!

By WBCboxing.com

All in all, WBC/NABF 5-time champion, Oscar Cantu, is the lone star hero of Kingsville Texas.

Oscar is  honored at Texas A&M University-Kingsville, with a permanent exhibition in the Connor Museum.  It displays wonderful pieces of memorabilia and photos of his stellar amateur and professional careers in Boxing.

Oscar himself, an ever humble, friendly and appreciative man, paid tribute  to his family and community for always supporting him and guiding him throughout his memorable  and extraordinary journey.

He plainly, selflessly and honestly said, “I couldn’t have done this on my own.  I needed you all!”   Respected and admired throughout the region for his tireless volunteer work, from mentoring the youth in his Dad’s boxing gym to clean up projects around town.  Almost 300 loyal fans were in attendance at the ceremony.

The keynote speakers were Kleberg County Judge Rudy Madrid, Oscar’s Sister, Eric Marcial, and former WBC world Super Bantamweight champion Paul Banke.  Oscar now looks forward to conducting tours at the museum and explaining to children and adults just what it took to earn his success in Boxing.  The museum is open to the public.

Congratulations to a caring Champ of the Ring… and of Life!
