The promotion for UFC 229 has been surprisingly quiet, but a trio of clips were released Saturday to hype up the blockbuster bout between Khabib Nurmagomedov and Conor McGregor.
Nurmagomedov, the UFC lightweight champion, defends his title against McGregor on Oct. 6 in Las Vegas. There are several storylines heading into the matchup including McGregor competing in MMA for the first time in two years to challenge for the belt that he never lost inside the Octagon, Nurmagomedov looking to improve to 27-0, and the lingering bad blood between the two stemming from the wild events in Brooklyn that saw Nurmagomedov get into a confrontation with McGregor’s close friend Artem Lobov, and McGregor retaliating by attacking a bus that was transporting Nurmagomedov.
The three promos shown during the UFC 228 broadcast draw upon those aspects and more to build up what is expected to be one of the biggest fights in UFC history.
