Regis Prograis promises to bring the fireworks in WBSS quarterfinals

Prograis will take on Terry Flanagan this weekend in the opening round of the World Boxing Super Series tournament.

The World Boxing Super Series kicks off its 140lb tournament this weekend in New Orleans where native Regis Prograis (22-0, 10 KOs) takes on Terry Flanagan (33-1, 13 KOs) in 12 rounds of scheduled action. Prograis, who is the tournament’s #1 seed, says he’s throwing all the pressure of fighting in his hometown out the window and will just focus on having fun.

“This time I think the pressure is out of the window. This time it is going back to being fun. I love boxing; this thing is my home. I am not talking about just New Orleans, I am talking about the boxing ring. Like I said, I can’t wait!”

As the tournament’s #1 seed Prograis had first dibs on selecting who he wanted to face, and Prograis says he chose Flanagan because he rates him as a good fighter and he wants to fight the best competition available.

Prograis continued by saying that he hasn’t entered this tournament by looking at himself as the favorite to win, and that state of mind has helped him prepare for this as best as he possibly could. And being fully prepared, Prograis says we can look forward to a great performance from him in the ring.

“It is going to be an explosive fight, all my fights are explosive no matter who is in front of me. I always bring the fireworks,” said Prograis.

You can catch all the action from the WBSS opening round on Saturday, streaming live on DAZN.
