Muhammad Waseem (3-0, 3 KOs) of Pakistan was accompanied by world class trainer Jeff Mayweather as he scaled in at 121 pounds during his WBC 30-day mandatory weigh-in at the famed Mayweather Boxing Club in Las Vegas. Waseem will take on former world title challenger Jether Oliva (23-5-2, 11 KOs) of the Philippines, who also weighed in at 121 pounds. Both fighters were at three pounds less than the maximum weight allowed by the WBC, 123.2 (10% over 112 pounds) at the 30 day mark.

The fight itself has had some major changes. The date will remain the same date of July 17, however, the site has been moved from Singapore to the luxurious 5 star Millennium Seoul Hilton Hotel in Seoul, South Korea. It was originally announced that the two combatants would be fighting for the WBC Asia flyweight title over ten rounds. They will now be fighting in a twelve rounder for the vacant WBC Silver flyweight title.

This next fight is a major step up in class for Waseem, but his promoter Andy Kim (AK Promotions) feels he is ready. “I am very appreciative to WBC President Mauricio Sulaiman and the WBC for this huge opportunity. I have no doubts that Waseem will show that he belongs in such a major fight,” said Kim. Waseem is training in Las Vegas with Jeff Mayweather for the second consecutive fight.
