The card for the UFC’s 25th anniversary show looks to be complete.
A lightweight bout between Julian Erosa and Devonte Smith has officially been added to UFC Denver, which takes place at the Pepsi Center next Saturday. This brings the number of bouts on the card to an even dozen.
This will be Erosa’s second stint in the Octagon after competing twice for the organization in 2015-2016. A contestant on The Ultimate Fighter 22, “Juicy J” managed a semifinal finish before making a successful UFC debut at the season finale, where he beat Marcin Wrzosek by split decision. Erosa was knocked out by Teruto Ishihara in his next bout and subsequently released by the promotion.
The 29-year-old, who typically competes at 145 pounds, went 6-2 outside of the UFC before appearing on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series in June. Erosa defeated Jamall Emmers by second-round KO, but did not receive a contract on fight night. He enters UFC Denver with a 22-5 record.
Smith (8-1) was also featured on this season of the Contender Series. He picked up a first-round KO of Joseph Lowry in August, which was enough to convince Dana White to reward him with a UFC contract. Currently training with the Factor X team in Colorado, this will be Smith’s Octagon debut.
In the UFC Denver main event, Chan Sung Jung fights Yair Rodriguez in a featherweight bout, while Donald Cerrone and Mike Perry collide in the welterweight co-headliner.
