An important women’s flyweight fight is coming to Southern California.

Joanne Calderwood will meet surging prospect Ariane Lipski at UFC 233 on Jan. 26 in Anaheim, Calif., sources confirmed Thursday with MMA Fighting. The bout was first reported by Polish MMA website LowKing. The UFC made it official Friday

Calderwood (12-3) is coming off an impressive first-round submission win over Kalindra Faria at UFC Lincoln in August. The Scotland native has moved her camp to Las Vegas and Syndicate MMA, as well as the UFC Performance Institute, as she tries to make headway in the flyweight division. Calderwood, 31, was a strawweight contender, but had uneven performances in that weight class due to a very tough weight cut.

Lipski (10-3) has won nine in a row, last fighting under the KSW banner. The Brazil native is nicknamed “The Violence Queen” for her ferocious approach to fighting. Lipski, 24, is a highly regarded prospect in the women’s 125-pound division and the former KSW women’s flyweight champion.

UFC 233 is likely to be headlined by a flyweight title fight pitting champion Henry Cejudo against bantamweight champ T.J. Dillashaw. A lightweight fight between Paul Felder and James Vick has been announced and ESPN has reported that Ben Askren will debut on the card against Robbie Lawler.
