A cursed featherweight matchup at The Ultimate Fighter 28 Finale has found some stability.
On Friday, the UFC confirmed via its website that Legacy Fighting Alliance featherweight champion Kevin Aguilar has stepped in as a replacement for Arnold Allen to fight Rick Glenn at the TUF 28 Finale on Nov. 30 in Las Vegas. This is the second change to the bout as Glenn had already been brought in on short notice for an injured Gilbert Melendez.
FanSided and FloCombat were first to report the news of Allen’s withdrawal, which is apparently due to injury. Aguilar’s signing was first reported by FanSided.
“The Angel of Death” last fought in July, moving up to lightweight to win a split decision over Joey Gomez on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series. Prior to that, Aguilar was coming off of his third consecutive defense of the LFA featherweight title, a first-round knockout of Thanh Le. He joins the UFC with a 15-1 pro record.
Allen, 24, last fought in May at UFC Liverpool, where he defeated Mads Burnell via third-round submission to improve to 4-0 inside the Octagon. That victory earned Allen his second UFC Performance of the Night bonus.
