Freddie Roach will once again be in Manny Pacquiao’s corner for his Jan. 19th battle with Adrien Broner. Roach confirmed the news to Chris Mannix following what was described as a lengthy meeting with his former fighter.
“Manny reached out directly,” Roach said. “We sat together one-on-one. I’ll be in his corner Jan 19.”
Last night’s meeting between Roach and Pacquiao was the first time the two had spoken directly since Pacquiao’s fight against Jeff Horn over a year ago. After that fight Roach took some criticism and was left in the dark until he finally found himself out of Pacquiao’s training team for his last bout against Lucas Matthysse.
The way that played out really rubbed Roach the wrong way, especially considering how closely they’ve worked together for over a decade, but Roach never came out to publicly bash Pacquiao for their falling out. But the good news is these two, who made history together, have finally appeared to hash things out.
