John Dodson and John Lineker threw down on Saturday night in one of the most entertaining headliners of the year so far. Unfortunately, not many fans were interested in watching the Portland event. According to ratings guru Dave Meltzer of MMA Fighting, the show drew an average of 657,000 viewers on FS1.
That is the lowest Saturday prime time number of 2016.
The main event averaged 831,000 overall. The main card of the show started an hour later than normal, at 11pm ET instead of 10pm, which could have had an effect on viewership.
Unfortunately for Lineker, he has the dubious distinction of being part of the headliner for the worst drawing FS1 of 2016 overall – a Wednesday night show where he defeated Michael McDonald back in July. That show averaged 609,000 viewers.
Last weekend, Cris Cyborg drew way more than Lineker and Dodson did, averaging over 1.1 million for the show and peaking at over 1.3 million for the main event.
There was some decent news though – the FS2 prelims for the Portland show were the third-best ever on the network, drawing an average of 294,000 viewers. So that’s something at least.
