World Boxing Council middleweight champion Saul “Canelo” Alvarez, is a strong candidate for “Boxer of the Year 2018” after KO`ing Rocky Fielding at Madison Square Garden in New York.
“Canelo” conquered the WBC middleweight crown by defeating Gennady “GGG” Golovkin by majority decision, on September 15 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. That victory earned him the “National Sports Award” in Mexico, as the first boxer in history to gain this award.
It`s likely that “Canelo” will return to 160 pounds, to make the first defense of his WBC middleweight title, probably against the American Daniel Jacobs (35-2, 29 KO’s).
