Demetrius Andrade put a beating on Willie Nelson for twelve rounds before ultimately forcing a TKO stoppage.

Well, damn! Demetrius Andrade put on a showcase performance tonight, really lighting-up WIllie Nelson over 12 rounds before he ultimately forced a stoppage in the final round. Andrade dropped Nelson early in the first round, then again in the 11th, and twice in the final round before the referee had to step in to call off the fight. And in between the first and eleventh Nelson just took a beating, getting wiped out on my scorecard (and anyone else’s with a pair of eyes).

Andrade looked as sharp as ever, and I gotta say, he’s going to be a handful for anyone at junior middleweight if he maintains this form. Throughout the fight Andrade featured a hard straight left to the body which landed over and over, and then a lead right uppercut which landed with frightening regularity and power — snapping Nelson’s head up routinely. He also showcased ferocious body punches, which surely did additional damage.

Nelson really had nothing to offer Andrade, who mostly tried to feature a tight high guard and not much punching, but that didn’t stop him from taking a ton on punishment over twelve rounds. After the fight Andrade said he’s coming for everybody at 154, and it’s looking like he’ll be right back in a title fight in the near future. I, myself, would love to see him face-off with Erislandy Lara soon.
