Mehdi Baghdad will have to wait a little longer before he attempts to get back into the winning column.
The TUF and UFC veteran was slated to fight Mohamad Ghorabi at the Brave CF 21 event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on Dec. 28. However, Ghorabi came in 10 pounds over the super lightweight limit and the bout was canceled. Brave announced that Ghorabi was released from his contract.
Baghdad, who lost his Brave debut to Pawel Kielek back in May, is on a three-fight losing skid dating back to 2016.
Mohammed Gamal also missed weight for his fight with Ahmad Makki, Brave announced, but Mohammed Doghani has stepped up as a short-notice replacement in a catchweight bout. Makki won by first-round submission.
Brave 21 took place at the King Abdullah Sports City Indoor Sports Hall in Jeddah and featured Jeremy Kennedy vs. Marat Magomedov in the main event. The stakes were high, as the winner could be next in line against featherweight champion Bubba Jenkins, and Kennedy emerged victorious via third-round TKO.
Jeremy Kennedy (@JeremyKennedyWC) KO’s Marat Magomedov with a gorgeous check left hook in R3. The elbows were academic. #BraveCF211144:09 AM – Dec 29, 201850 people are talking about this
