OPBF featherweight champ Ryo Takenaka (15-3-1, 8 KOs), 125.75, retained his regional belt for the second time when he cautiously fought and earned a unanimous decision (118-110 twice, 119-110) over OPBF#1 Randy Braga (19-2-1, 5 KOs), 125.75, Philippines, over twelve hot frames on Thursday in Tokyo, Japan. Takenaka was once slated to make this fight in July, but his right hand injury caused a postponement for three months. Takenaka was careful of Braga’s southpaw left hand all the way, and failed to follow up for a stoppage only by keeping his distance. Takenaka was leading on points after the eighth on the open scoring system: 79-74, 78-74 twice. He was in command in the last four sessions to confirm his victory and second defense.
Promoter: Misako Promotions.
