The women’s bantamweight scrap between Holly Holm and Aspen Ladd is no longer happening at UFC 235.
UFC President Dana White confirmed the fight was “not going to happen” when asked why neither fighter was on stage for the UFC 235 press conference Thursday night. When pressed whether the fight would still happen on a different card, White revealed they were “working on another fight for both of them.”
Holm (12-4), a former bantamweight champion and featherweight title challenger, was last seen earning a decision over Megan Anderson in their 145-pound tilt at UFC 225 in June. This got her back into the win column after failing in her bid to dethrone Cris Cyborg at UFC 219. To date, her last bout at bantamweight ended in her finishing Bethe Correia with a third-round head kick in June 2017.
The Albuquerque native also holds notable victories over Ronda Rousey, Marion Reneau and Raquel Pennington
Ladd (7-0) is coming off a violent first0round TKO over former Invitcta FC champ Tanya Evinger in October. This victory not only kept her perfect record intact but marked her sixth stoppage win of her professional career, which includes a TKO over Lina Länsberg and submission over Amanda Cooper.
