FORTALEZA, Brazil — Charles Oliveira is on fire, and he wants another tough opponent inside the Octagon.

The jiu-jitsu specialist scored another submission victory Saturday night at UFC Fortaleza, tapping David Teymur with an anaconda choke at the Centro de Formação Olímpica in Fortaleza, Brazil, but the finish came after an incredible inverted elbow that rocked Teymur.

The inspiration? Anderson Silva’s epic knockout over Tony Fryklund in at Cage Rage 16 in 2006.

“I’ll say my entire life that I’m training this and no one will believe it,” Oliveira told MMA Fighting after the win. “I’ve been training the whole time. I threw two spinning punches and my corner said that Teymur was expecting it, told me to spin to the other side and landed the elbow. I did that in the locker room, ‘(do) the Anderson Silva elbow, the Anderson Silva elbow,’ and it landed.”

“Do Bronx” scored his fourth straight submission in an eight-month span in the UFC, and had to overcome some adversities in the first round when Teymur poked him in the eye multiple times.

Oliveira wouldn’t call it accidental.

“Brother, we’re ready for everything,” Oliveira said. “I didn’t expect to get poked in the eye one, two, three times. The first time I thought it was accidental, but then two more, I think it was (on purpose), so I got pissed off and wanted to brawl. My team calmed me down and I was able to show my evolution on the feet.”

Oliveira, who told MMA Fighting prior to UFC Fortaleza that he was down to fighting more than five times in 2019, is targeting an April return at UFC’s event in Miami on April 27.

“I want to fight a top 5 of the division,” Oliveira said. “I think that of those five, Kevin Lee is the only one who doesn’t have a fight booked. If he wants to fight, it can be wherever he wants. If it’s in April, even better.”

Lee (17-4) last fought in December, losing a five-round decision to Al Iaquinta at UFC on FOX 31. Prior to that defeat, “Motown Phenom” finished Edson Barboza.

“It’s going to be a war,” Oliveira said. “If the UFC likes this fight, I’m ready.”
