The World Boxing Super Series has scheduled a May 18th semifinal fight between junior welterweights Ivan Baranchyk and Josh Taylor, but according to Baranchyk’s manager David McWater, Baranchyk still doesn’t intend on fighting until the tournament gets their finances sorted out.

Barnchyk reportedly had to wait for two months before he finally received his bonus for his quarterfinals win, and concerns about the tournament’s ability to pay his fighter going forward have them balking at their continued participation.

“We are still out but trying to resolve issues,” McWater told Michael Woods on behalf of RingTV.

WBSS organizer Kalle Sauerland denies that the tournament’s financial struggles are as bad as they been made out to be in the media, but the pace at which this tournament is progressing sort of speaks for itself. Quarterfinal bouts for this season kicked off last October, and we’re now in February with several of the tournament’s next round of fights still without dates and venues.
